Ryan Michael White, candidate for Dare County Sheriff, has not limited his illegal drug activities to Dare County. This fine, upstanding citizen is facing one felony charge and two misdemeanors charges in Currituck County. He is scheduled to appear in Currituck County Superior Court on April 8 on a felony charge of possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and misdemeanor charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.  This brings to six the number of charges facing Mr. White.  His appearance last week in Dare County District Court on misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and reckless driving was continued until May 6th.

If convicted of the felony in Currituck, Mr. White would not be able to vote, let alone serve as Sheriff.   UPDATED:  He could serve as Sheriff under NC law as a convicted felon.

Is someone playing a cruel joke on the citizens of Dare County?  Are we to be the laughingstock of the state?  Ryan Michael White should withdraw from the race and spare us any further embarrassment.
