The DC BOC is on the verge of raising your taxes to pay for a budget shortfall.  Don’t let them get away with this!  They are eying a two cent increase in property taxes (per $100 value) and that’s just the start.  You won’t read about this increase in the Coastland Times until it’s too late.  Only one Commissioner, Jack Shea, has publicly committed to NOT raising taxes.

Outer Banks Tea Party is planning a Protest on Tuesday starting at 1pm at the County Government Center in Manteo to protest this tax increase and any other tax increase that they try to pass.  The BOC will hold a Budget Workshop at 2pm at that location.  Come out with your signs and let the BOC know that raising our taxes is unacceptable.  The Board will have to make the same hard decisions that every person, business and family in Dare County has to make in these tough economic times.  In the event that public comments are allowed at the meeting, be prepared to say a few words.

If you have not already done so, write a letter to the BOC and tell them what you think about tax increases.  Here’s the link to their email: Dare County Board of Commissioners It’s critical that they hear from us.  I have it on good authority that they are getting emails in support of a tax increase.  Post your letter in the Comments Section below.

Silence is Consent.
