All that you need to know about the Tea Party you can find in a reading of the Declaration of Independence.  The spirit of 1776 has been ingrained into our DNA so completely that even a century’s worth of brainwashing cannot stamp it out.

“When in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.”

The self appointed elites in Big Government, Big Academia and Big Media have sought to undermine our liberties over the course of the last century.  Our only recourse is to sever the bands which have connected us to them.  That is why you see an explosion in conservative media, a backlash against higher education and politically correct ‘science’ and a thorough trouncing of any political incumbent who has served to undermine the cause of liberty.  Through all available outlets, we been declaring the causes which have driven us to this separation.  What pamphleteering was to our forefathers, Facebook, blogging and email is to us.

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed – that whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.”

We recognize that rights are not granted by any person or government, they are given to us by God.  Every human being on the face of this earth has a right to live, a right to be free in his thoughts and his actions and a right to pursue those activities which will seem to him to effect his happiness.   Rights do not come free, though.  They come with responsibilities.  We have responsibilities to behave in such a manner so as not to infringe on the rights of another.  That is why governments are instituted among men; to ensure that everyone’s God-given rights are protected.  That is the sole responsibility of government.  We the people grant certain rights to the government to perform certain functions that will secure the rights of all.   We now find, though, that our current government does not abide by any constraints.  It considers itself the giver of rights and privileges.  It seeks to control the populace through tyrannical laws that diminish our God-given rights rather than protecting them.  It seeks to take our wealth and give it to others it deems more worthy.  We are withdrawing our consent to be governed in this manner and we seek to re-establish a government which abides by the constraints outlined in the Constitution and even to amend the Constitution as necessary to correct the abuses that have been written into it.  We seek to change our state and local governments in such a manner so that they, too, are constrained in their ability to take away our rights, our wealth and our independence.   We seek free market solutions at all levels and believe capitalism is the only system that allows the individual to flourish.  Governments at all levels should protect private property, allow for the free flow of commerce across the country and enforce all laws equitably.

“Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed.”

Over the past century, we have labored under a government that has grown increasingly tyrannical and despotic.  It has ever so slowly and quietly eroded our liberties.  We have accepted confiscatory taxes when our forefathers rebelled over a 3 cent tax on tea.  We have accepted government intrusion into our lives in the form of government programs for healthcare, retirement and education to name a few.  We have allowed government to take responsibility for our lives.  We’ve been busy raising families, working and doing all those things that give us pleasure, finding it easier to yield a few rights here and there in return for peace and security.  Despite the hardship we face in fighting this long established government, we are taking the first steps to right ourselves.  People can call us racist, stupid, extreme, dangerous, crazy or anything else.  We will not be deterred.  We know that we are following the right course by standing up for freedom, liberty and those principles on which this country was founded.  We understand, as did our Founding Fathers, that the costs may be high but we are willing to pledge ‘our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.’  Do not underestimate our determination.

“But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security. — Such has been the patient sufferance of these Colonies; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former Systems of Government”

It has become crystal clear since Obama took office that there is a plan to reduce the citizens of this country to mere subjects.  There is a derision for the Constitution and our founding principles among the self appointed elites in the media, the schools, the professional bureaucracy and at all levels of government.  We have a duty, to our fellow citizens, to our families and to posterity, to ensure that this country, the last best hope for man on earth, does not fade away.  That is why we have spoken up.  That is why we rally.  That is why we are voting out entrenched incumbents and voting in ordinary citizens who respect our founding principles.  Should conservative candidates prevail on November 2nd, that will be only the first step.  We will fight day in and day out to ensure that the principles of limited government, individual liberty, personal responsibility and free markets are once again the four corners of the foundation of our lives.

It is our right.  It is our Duty.  We will not shrink from this solemn obligation.
