Obama is a man that keeps his promises.  Remember his promise that ‘electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket’ under his administration?  Well, here it comes.  Dominion is proposing a 20% increase in rates, the majority of which they say is needed due to their increased cost to comply with state and federal emission regulations.

While Obama did not get Cap & Trade passed, he has been implementing his plan to regulate CO2 (the air you exhale) by executive order.  Those plans are going to cost us billions.  Obama tells us himself that we will bear those costs and that we will just have to get used to it.

Dominion makes very clear the reason for the needed rate increase.  In their letter they state that one of the three reasons for the rate increase is (more…)

Bill CookThanks to the efforts of Representative Bill Cook, the Hatteras and Knotts Island ferries will remain toll free. Rep. Cook, who is running for the Senate 1 seat now held now by Stan White, lobbied hard for a correction in the Senate version of the budget that would have implemented new ferry tolls on the Hatteras Island, Knotts Island and the Neuse and Pamlico River routes and increased tolls on all other routes.  Due to his efforts, the Senate revised their final budget bill to include a moratorium on any new or increased tolling through June 30, 2013.  The final budget was passed on July 2nd when the House overrode Governor Perdue’s veto.

Last year’s bi-annual budget contained an exemption for Hatteras and Knotts Island ferry tolls but lawmakers in the Senate wanted to remove that exemption this year to make up for transportation spending in other areas, including spending on the mid-Currituck Bridge.  After Representative Bill Cook personally appealed to Senate Pro Tem Berger in the final hours of the budget negotiations in the Senate, (more…)

It’s expected that State Representative Bill Cook (R) of Beaufort County will announce a run for the vacant NC-1 Senate seat next week at a press conference scheduled for Wednesday at 2pm in Washington, NC. Rather than run to retain the House seat in NC-6, Bill says he can be a more effective conservative voice in the Senate, being one of 50 rather than one of 120.  Mr. Cook will likely (more…)

The Washington Daily News is reporting that Beaufort County Republican Wayne Langston will run for the Senate District 1 seat.  The 42 year old Washington resident made the announcement yesterday.

The seat is currently occupied by Democrat and Basnight-crony Stan White of Dare County.  White was appointed to the seat after Basnight retired not unexpectedly in January.  The battle over who would succeed Basnight was contentious but ultimately White prevailed.  His chief opponent was party-lackey Arthur Williams of Beaufort County who was so angered by his loss that he switched parties and now calls himself a Republican.  This blogger has reason to believe that Williams will soon announce (more…)

Liberal Democrat Art Williams of Beaufort County is reportedly going to change his party affiliation from Democratic to Republican in an attempt to win the State Senate seat currently held by Democrat Stan White of Dare County.

The Washington Daily News is reporting that Art Williams will hold a press conference on October 18th to make a ‘political announcement’.  Williams refused to state the nature of the announcement, saying only

“I know the word’s, I guess, getting out about what I’m going to do.  They’re doing a formal press conference. I’ve got people in Raleigh that’s handling it. I’ll let them handle it.”

Based on Williams’ comments, it is clear that top Republican Party officials in Raleigh somehow see this as a good move and are supporting Williams in this effort.  Knowing that true conservatives in eastern North Carolina would never accept a liberal jack-ass wearing an elephant suit into their ranks, party officials (more…)
